THE GARDENS
Mount Ephraim House & Gardens is a privately-owned household house comprising over 800 acres of woods, fields, and a fruit farm. At the heart of the Estate lies the main house and gardens with magnificent sights over the surrounding countryside.
In the ten acres of captivating Edwardian gardens, terraces of aromatic roses lead to a pond and woodland area overlooking orchards. A broad collection of spring bulbs and lots of lovely mature trees are various other highlights.
Whether you intend to picnic by the lake, discover the arboretum, or walk via the rose gardens, there is something for everybody as well as no two visits are the same.
GARDEN HIGHLIGHTS
The topiary and floral boundary
This elaborate and unusual topiary features a collection of birds, pets, and First World War souvenirs and sits together with a traditional herbaceous border and also Millennium Rose Garden bountiful with fragrant roses throughout much of the garden period.
Japanese Rock Garden & Water Garden
The rock garden is based upon a collection of pools decorated with a Japanese rock bridge and lights. Along with the water garden, it is a location of tranquillity and calm.
Miz Maze
Based on a middle ages maze, the labyrinth is grown with ornamental grasses as well as herbaceous perennials and develops a Catherine Wheel of contrasting colours. Sited via a stunning adage entrance, it is best seen as the summer draws to a close.
Arboretum
Planted to honour the late Mary Dawes’ 80th birthday celebration and 300 years of the family members’ ownership of Mount Ephraim. Sited on an artificially elevated mound, it produces a unique viewpoint.
West Wing Kitchen
Our lovely cooking area in the West Wing of the main house serves scrumptious lunches and afternoon teas both inside or on the balcony ignoring the topiary.
Goodnestone House
Goodnestone Park is a huge, privately-owned estate situated in the heart of the sensational Kent countryside, just an hour’s journey from London. The huge, grand house was first constructed in 1704 and is steeped in an abundant history, including frequent sees from the well-known writer Jane Austen. Our amazing premises have undertaken numerous remarkable modifications making Goodnestone Park amongst the leading option of gardens to check out in Kent.
Goodnestone Park Gardens covers roughly fifteen acres of the Estate and also includes an extensive selection of trees, plants and hedges.
