Accessible Coach Hire for VISOR’s Group Trip to Devon

We recently had the pleasure of providing coach transport for VISOR – the Visually Impaired Society of Richmond on a multi-day group trip to Devon.

Who Are VISOR?

VISOR is an independent charity supporting blind and partially sighted people in and around the Borough of Richmond.

The charity is run by volunteers, many of whom are themselves visually impaired, and provides support, advice and a range of social activities for its members.

Being able to get out, visit new places and enjoy time together is an important part of the charity’s social activities, so we were delighted to provide the coach transport for their recent trip to Devon.

Monday – Cruisers Travelling From Richmond to Devon

Our first job was getting everyone comfortably aboard, making sure luggage and mobility equipment were safely stored and then beginning the journey from the Richmond area down to Devon.

For a multi-day trip, having the same private coach available throughout makes travelling considerably easier for a group. Rather than organising separate transfers or relying on public transport at each destination, passengers can travel together and have the coach ready for the next part of the itinerary.

Once everyone was settled, we headed south-west for the start of their Devon break.

Tuesday – Buckfast Abbey & Widecombe

Tuesday’s itinerary began with a visit to Buckfast Abbey in Buckfastleigh.

Buckfast Abbey is situated on the edge of Dartmoor and provides coach parking for pre-booked groups, making it a suitable destination for organised coach visits.

Once the group had enjoyed their time at the Abbey, it was back aboard the Cruisers coach for the afternoon journey to Widecombe-in-the-Moor, where there was time for tea and an opportunity to enjoy another part of Devon.

Days like this are where having your own coach really comes into its own. We can work around the group’s planned itinerary rather than the group having to organise its day around public transport.

Wednesday – Bicton Gardens & Budleigh Salterton

On Wednesday, we were back on the road for another full day, this time heading towards Bicton Gardens followed by Budleigh Salterton.

With a group tour covering several destinations, we always plan ahead and allow plenty of time for passengers to board and leave the coach safely and comfortably.

There is no need to rush. Our job is not simply getting passengers from A to B; we want the transport to be an enjoyable and stress-free part of the trip.

Thursday – The Donkey Sanctuary, Sidmouth

Thursday’s excursion took the VISOR group to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, before the Devon trip began drawing to a close.

The Donkey Sanctuary at Slade House Farm near Sidmouth is one of Devon’s well-known visitor attractions and provided another enjoyable destination for the group.

After several days on the road together, it was great to see everyone gathered alongside the Cruisers coach for a group photograph.
